Often times it is difficult for people to pinpoint exactly why they are fatigued during the day. Although a consistent lack of energy could be a symptom of larger medical issues, try applying these four tricks to see if they help you feel more energized:

1. Avoid sleeping in: Your body likes being on a schedule, and sleeping in can throw off that natural rhythm, leading to sleepiness at the wrong time. By maintaining a good schedule, you can avoid that.

2. Train your body clock: Upon waking up, do some mild stretches. This will get your blood flowing and alert your body that it’s time to get going. Exposing yourself to light (preferably natural) can also help.

3. Exercise regularly: By exercising in the late afternoon, your body’s temperature increases a bit. Fast-forward to bedtime, and that temperature is declining while you go to bed– which may help you fall asleep more easily.

4. Stick to a bedtime: Falling in line with keeping yourself on a schedule, having the same bedtime each night can be helpful. Your body will know when it’s time to sleep, and when to wake up naturally.
