 5 Sleep-Promoting Bedtime Snacks Perfect For Summer

It’s late and you are still up as your tummy is begging you for snack, but you may be worried about ruining your summer body. We’ve got good news!  You can satisfy your late night craving without feeling guilty about the possibility of gaining weight and help encourage your body to get sleepy all at the same time. Try these skinny bedtime snacks provided by Fox News to get back to sleep tonight:

Turkey Roll Ups and Whole Grain Crackers: It’s low in calories, provides protein and a good dose of tryptophan, an amino acid that can help make you sleepy.

Greek Yogurt and Mixed Berries: For a snack to cool you down and lull you to sleep, as well as protect your weight, reach for plain Greek yogurt and add in ½ of mixed berries. Berries contain vitamin B6, which encourages the production of the sleep hormone, melatonin. Plus, calcium also helps with melatonin production.

Banana and Almond Butter: Enjoy a banana with a tablespoon of almond butter for a delicious snack that’s good for relaxing your muscles and encouraging sleepiness.

Apple and Low-Fat Cheese: Grab an apple as your late night snack for fiber and pair it with low-fat Laughing Cow cheese or low-fat string cheese for calcium, protein and tryptophan.

Unsalted Almonds or Pistachios: Nuts are a great source of protein, healthy fat, and magnesium, which promotes melatonin production.

While a bedtime snack can help you sleep, don’t feel obligated if you aren’t a late night snacker.
