The Art of Napping: Quick Tips

Naps aren’t just for kids; they can help adults who are sleep deprived or just in need of additional relaxation. The benefits of napping include reducing fatigue, increasing alertness, and improving all around cognitive and physical performance. Consider taking a nap if you experience unexpected sleepiness, are about to experience a loss of sleep in the future, or simply just want to make scheduled naps a part of your daily routine.

Napping at the wrong time of day or for too long can have some negative effects. Drawbacks of this include feeling groggy or disoriented after napping and the potential for nighttime sleep problems.

Follow these tips to get the most out of a nap:
Take naps in the afternoon: Aim for around 2 or 3 pm; it’s less likely to affect nighttime sleep. Pay attention to when your body needs sleep and your nighttime sleep schedule to determine when is the best time to take a nap.

Keep naps short: Only allow yourself to nap for 10 to 30 minutes. The longer you nap, the more likely it is that you will feel tired when you wake up.

Nap in a peaceful environment: Choose a place that is dark, quiet, has a comfortable temperature, and comes with few distractions.

Remember to give yourself time to wake up before resuming activities. If you find your need for naps increasing and there isn’t any reason you should be tired, consult with your doctor. We at Gallery Furniture encourage you to relax and unwind! Always remember, in the famous words of Carrie P Snow, “No day is so bad it can’t be fixed with a nap!”

Also, keep in mind if it has been more than 8 years since you purchased your last mattress, statistics show it’s in your mental and physical health’s best interest to change our for a new mattress at least every 8 years.
