How Many Hours of Sleep am I Supposed to get?

It can be difficult to make time for sleep while balancing work, family, and hobbies. One might be left wondering to themself, “How much sleep do I really need?” Well, the short answer is that it varies from person to person. However, by following these guidelines from the National Sleep Foundation, you can have a good general gauge:

           

            Newborns (0-2 months)         need                             12-18 hours

            Infants (3-11 months)                  need                             14 – 15 hours

            Toddlers (1-3 years)                need                             2-14 hours

            Preschoolers (3-5 years)        need                             11-13 hours

            School-age children (5-10 years) need                    10-11 hours

            Teens (10-17)                          need                             8.5-9.25

            Adults                                          need                             7-9 hours
