Sleep Problems And How To Fix Them

sleep_problems

If you have trouble sleeping, chances are that you have a physical problem causing the trouble. Here are a few sleep problems and some solutions to them.

For waking up in the middle of the night it is suggested that you keep your room dark, try not turn on the tv or computer, also don’t eat unless you are truly hungry and you determine that it is going to keep you awake.

If you wake up with a headache or sore jaw, it is possible that you are grinding or clenching your teeth while you sleep. See your dentist for an exam and consider wearing a dental guard, and cutting out alcohol before bed could also help.

Nocturia is the term to describe waking up frequently to urinate during the night. If this problem affects you, try not waking up and men should consider getting your prostate checked, while women could be suffering from incontinence or urinary tract problems. Both men and women can learn exercises to strengthen the muscles of the bladder.

If snoring is keeping you up at night; try (or kindly ask the snoring offender) to consider losing weight, changing your sleep position, or avoiding alcohol and sleeping sedatives to prevent snoring. If the snoring sounds more like gasps for breath or really loud and uneven, this can be a sign of sleep apnea which a doctor will be able to provide treatments for.
