Think your baby sleeps a lot? It turns out babies aren’t the sleepiest creatures living on earth! They have some stiff competition. Check out where they rank.

1. Koalas- They are found only in Australia where they feed on Eucalyptus trees but also sleep for 22 hours a day.

2. Brown Bats- These bats sleep for 20 hours a day. They are in hibernation for half of the year because of a lack of food.

3. Giant Armadillos- Scientists are still not sure what makes the armadillos sleep for 18 to 19 hours per day. Since this animal lives alone, lying around in its burrow may be the most fun thing to do.

4. Owl Monkeys- Known as the night monkey in its native territorial areas in South America, these monkeys sleep for 17 hours a day. Their big brown eyes help them see better at night.

5. Human Babies- Babies break onto the list at number 5, resting their eyes for 16 hours a day while they are 1 to 12 months old.

6. Squirrels– These little furry animals sleep for 14 hours a day. An explanation for such a long period of rest would be that the squirrels consume foods high in fat, carbohydrates, and protein.

7. Cats- This house pet can sleeps away 12 hours of a day, the same amount as its brethren the cheetah.
