Although it is often recommended to leave phones out of your bedroom at night, there are some apps that are aimed at helping you sleep. 68% of people ages 18 to 44 said they keep their phones close to their beds at night. They have to fight off the urge to check their device and ignore the light and sounds of it also.

The blue wavelength of light given off by cell phones, laptops, tablets, and other tools we think about banning from the bedroom, trigger alertness according to research done by Harvard, and it may also fight fatigue. It is recommended by experts that you take at least an hour to prepare for bed and not use any electronic devices during this time.

Even with this news, there are some apps you should check out that want to help you get a better sleep, just remember to put your phone on airplane mode first.

Sleep Cycle: The bio-alarm clock uses motion sensors in your iPhone to track movements while you’re asleep then, estimates what stage of sleep you are in. You program the app for the latest time you want to wake up, and the app will wake you up at the time you are in the lightest sleep around that time instead of startled you awake.

Sleep as Android: This app is similar to the SleepCycle app but for Andriod users. It allows for comparisons between different nights over time, therefore helping you evaluate your entire sleep history. Sleep as Android also comes with some lullabies to put you to sleep and can even your record your snoring or mumbling during the night.

Sleepbot: Available to iOS and Android users, this app also tracks your movement and sounds to paint a visual picture of your sleep and awake you at the time that will cause the least disturbance. It even makes suggestions for how to get a better quality of sleep such as, what to eat or sleep-promoting exercises.

Pzizz: Don’t pay attention to the funny name but instead focus on the 100 billion combinations of sounds this app can use to put you to sleep. It mixes quotes, music, and sound effects and binaural tones into a new playlist every time you press start.

Sleep Pillow:Another white noise app, the Sleep Pillow has 70 high-quality recorded sounds such as wooden wind chimes, a bubble stream, or a dryer that you can mix personally into over 300,000 personalized combinations. Set a timer to go to sleep and the sound will fade out slowly and fade back in during your morning rise.

There are many ways to improve your sleep; you just have to find out what works best for you. Always remember to keep your room dark, cool and free of unnecessary disturbances. Your body will thank you for it!
